Chukum is a mineral coating derived from natural resins obtained from the Chukum tree, combined with local minerals through a controlled artisanal process.
The material originates from a traditional technique developed in the Yucatán Peninsula, where the interaction between resin, mineral aggregates, water, and application method defines the final appearance. Rather than following an industrially fixed formula, each batch responds to natural variables, resulting in subtle variations in tone and texture.
Production and preparation are carried out exclusively in the Yucatán Peninsula, respecting the natural cycle of the material and requiring skilled application to achieve continuous, durable surfaces.
